Getting ready for a 2000pt tourney with roughly the same list. I've gotten a lot of building done in the last week as well. I kept most of my list the same from the last tourney with a few changes to make it more competititve. I figure I've got to do a little better than middle of the pack in the next few rounds to have a chance in the top 16.
HQ
-Wolfpriest with termy armor, combi-melta, and wolftail talisman
-Wolfpriest without any upgrades
ELITE
-4 terminators including Arjac. Mixed wargear and drop pod
-3 Wolfguard with frostblades
-Wolfscouts with meltagun
TROOP
-Grey Hunter packX2 Same old pack I always run
-8 Blood claws with power weapon and flamer in rhino. No Lukas this time
FAST ATTACK
-4 Thunderwolves with one storm shield and one meltabomb
-2 landspeeders with multi meltas
HEAVY SUPPORT
-Longfangs with missiles X2
I replaced Lukas in the Blood Claws with a wolfpriest to save points and make the unit stronger in assault. Bjorn was dropped for a simple termy wolfpriest to go with Arjac's unit. I had originaly chosen Grimnar, but I figured he'd be too many points and overkill in the unit. Arjac and the priest should be able to handle themselves in most situations. The landspeeders will add some heavy anti tank along with the wolf scouts.
My Eldar Corsairs army is slowly coming together as well I've got my first Falcon and most of my Viper done. Five more Vipers and two more Falcons to go. My plan is to have the army fully assembled before I really paint anything. I'd like to playtest them if any drastic changes are needed.
I've also gotten a treat from ebay in the mail....
I can't wait to start on the Avatar. I have no real plans to run one, but I love monstrous creatures and it is a pretty badass model.
This next tournament will be the last 5th edition one I play. My 6th edition copy is already pre-ordered, and I'll probably spend a whole weekend reading through it. I'm not looking forward to it, not because of any rumors, but because I'm lazy. Rumors are useless to debate, we'll all get the book at the same time, and I've got better things to do with my time/energy. Now...to get painting. I've got a wolfpriest and speeders to finish. I may cook up some skyclaws instead of the speeders....but that's a completely different can of worms.
UPDATE: The tourney will probably be played with 6th ed. rules. No big deal, now I've got a real drive to understand them faster and thoroughly.

June 16th tourney done!
Well, the tournament went well. I came out middle of the pack in overall points. Although I didn't play as hard as I could have in the last round. I was pretty sloppy on strategy and just playing for fun. I tied for best painted with two other players, so with the cost of lunch and the tourney I probably came out $5 ahead! Here's a copy of my list...
I focused on the unique characters as I played, for more of a Space Wolf theme.
1st round- Ultramarines!
Pretty standard list, Vulcan and termies in a land raider were the big targets. The scenario had 3 objective in a no-man's-land. Driving fast or running caused dangerous terrain in no-man's-land, just to spice up the game. And one of the three objectives would be worth twice as much, determined randomly at the beginning of the 5th round. We tied, but I had a bit more battle points. I had all three objectives until the end, That's when Vulcan finally decided to show up with a unit of marines and kick my already bloody grey hunters off of an objective. And it would only make sense that the objective they took turned out to be worth twice as much.
-Bjorn: Hung around the middle of the board, then took out a unit of terminators as they deep struck in.
-Arjac: Droped in and failed to hit with his hammer. The combi meltas also failed to do anything to the land raider. But they took no casualties and went on to claim that raider, a vindicator, a razorback, and a combat squad as the game went on.
-Lukas: Stayed in the middle of the board and ended up claiming the center objective. Nothing flashy, just worked toward winning.
2nd round Blood Angels!
Razordback list with Mephiston. 5 objectives, pretty simple scenario, dawn of war deployment...hell on my longfangs. I won but we tied on battle points. By first turn it looked grim, but almost everything turned out for me in my third shooting phase.
-Bjorn: Imobilized right away, took a lot of firepower. Ended up destroyed, but close enough to another objective that I could claim two with the same unit.
-Arjac: Showed up and killed a land raider...then got taken out my furious charging, FNP termies.(Mephiston too)
-Lukas: Sacrificed his whole unit to get close to Mephiston and stasis bombed him.
3rd round Codex Marines.
Bike captain, two land raiders, termy libby. Kill points...simple enough, extra points for killing marked HQs. I lost, but got a few points. I deployed my longfangs terribly, and advanced with my fenrisian wolves for whirlwind fodder. Neither were good ideas.
-Bjorn: Didn't do much until he moved up to engage the enemy. Firt lascannon shot blew him up...typical. He would end up costing me 3 killpoints in the end.
-Arjac: Droped in and scattered 11 inches back....fisrt roll of the game and it only went downhill from there. They died without causing a casualy I believe.
-Lukas: Sacrificed his unit to stasis bomb the bike captain, giving me my only battle points.
Overall I like how Arjac played. I'll probably keep him. Bjorn was a toss up, probably only play him on special occasions. And Lukas did well if It wasn't for the fact that I have to sacrifice a 325 point troop choice almost every game...
Here are the finished models I was working on before the tourney. I stayed up until 5am getting Arjac done.
The next one is July 21st. 2000pts and the last 5th edition tourney. I'm already signed up and I think I'm going to try and be a bit more competative. I've got some list changes and some stuff I might need to build....

This weekend I've got a tournament that I have not really prepared for. I use tournaments to get a new unit or cool character painted. I've got a pretty good track record of getting best painted, but I don't feel it's fair if I don't continuously add a new unit every time I play. I'm using my wolves again and have a small pack of Fenrisian Wolves that haven't seen the tabletop. I had painted them for the last tourney, but ended up missing it. For this one, it seems characters will play somewhat of a role with the theme. My list includes Bjorn and Lukas, but I've been itching to play Arjak. I've got the model but other things have gotten in the way of me puting any work into it. I vow to get the model done in the next few days doing whatever it takes.
So far I've cleaned up the finecast and used hot water to straighten out the hammer. Mico airbubbles aside, it looks pretty cool. As he's a badass character, I used a chunk of plaster and made a piece of rubble for his base. After some runes and a little knot work, the slap of concrete looks pretty good. A quick primer and basecoat are all I've gotten done last night, but I'm off to a good start. Tonight I hope to finish all base colors and washes. I think that's a pretty descent goal I can attain.

My theme: Eldar corsairs! I wanted to make an army that wasn't like the typical Eldar. Something darker and scarrier...that weren't Dark Eldar. Now, a smidge of history on me....I don't like elves or eldar. I've always been more into dwarves rather than flimsy elves. But all things change and it was either Eldar or Tau. I'm not building an army to dominate, it's a hobby project too. I do play tournaments and play to win, but having the best army isn't my goal...just the coolest army.
Customized builds and a unique paintjob is my goal. I'd love to sculpt all of the hair myself, but I think I'm going to give up and use DE heads. I will build and cast unique bases for the army though. That's a requirement. Well, I need to get a list together to get an idea of what bitz I need.

Long story short, I get far too many hobby ideas and cannot (or will not) budget my hobby time to complete many of them. I have played 40K for about 12 years, starting with generic Space Marines. After a few years I moved on to Chaos Marines because most of the gamers in my circle playe "good guy" armies. Someone has to play the bad guys...and Chaos is pretty bad ass. When the 4th edition Chaos codex came out I switched to Necron. They seemed the ultimate adversary and I really got into the eldritch horror aspect of their backstory. As a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, they fit pretty well with my play style. A few years ago I built 1,000pts of Space Wolves for the Adepticon team tourney. Since my 'Crons were all painted, and I'm a thrifty gamer, I put together another 850pts of Wolves for another tournament army. With the changes in the new Necron codex, I went with the Wolves full time. The theme of the army kinda changed, not for the worse, but it was different than what I wanted.
So wolves full time now! I like the army, but I miss having something different. And after playing them for a few years, I felt like I needed something new. Something completely different was needed, so I could explore another facete of 40K through the hobby and gaming aspects. Thus, I traded and made some smart purchases for a bunch of Eldar. This blog is an attempt to keep me on track with the very large task of having a themed Eldar Corsair army ready for Adepticon 2013....
